Welcome to your NEW Wegmans Wine, Liquor & Beer store!

Hi, I’m John Lefkus, the Manager of your new Chestnut Hill, MA Wegmans Wine, Liquor and Beer store. We’ll be opening our doors on Saturday, March 29, just 4 weeks before our Wegmans Food Market opens, so there’s a lot going on right now, but I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself and let you know what’s in store for you. (Oh and speaking of the food market, if you’d like a sneak peek at the store, check out our special website: wegmans.com/chestnuthill. While you’re there, don’t forget to sign up for your Shoppers Club card; there are lots of benefits without a fee. You will receive a special welcome gift and, until April 17th you can even win $500 in free groceries!)

If you’re anything like me, when I’m planning a romantic dinner for my wife, I want to be sure I pick out the perfect wine that pairs with all elements of the meal. Our team here at Wegmans Wine, Liquor and Beer welcomes challenges like this every day! For them, it’s an opportunity to share their extensive knowledge. Our incredible selection makes it easy to find that perfect pairing.

We’re Here to Help You with the Perfect Paring

Our friendly, helpful employees have the training and knowledge to help you find just what you’re looking for. Pairing food with wine is a unique advantage of Wegmans. We have wine and food experts all in the same building to help our customers create that perfect dinner or throw a successful party!  Using our relationships with our distributors and winemakers, we are constantly educating our staff to help you put together a great wine pairing or start to build a wine cellar collection.

Speaking of training, let’s not forget that learning doesn’t always happen in a classroom. I’ve been very lucky to have been able to visit some of the world’s greatest wine and beer makers and these firsthand experiences help me understand how local terroir helps shape the bottle of wine or beer you’re buying—which means I’m better able to help you find its perfect food pairing!

Southern France

I had the honor of spending a week with the winemakers of France’s Languedoc wine region. As we walked the vineyards there, I learned how they grow and harvest their grapes, and tasted the delicious fruits of their labor.

Finger Lakes Region

During a visit to New York’s Finger Lakes region, our team enjoyed pairings of local cheeses and wines prepared by the cheese artisans and Fox Run winemakers. It was a delicious example of “what grows together, goes together!”

Ommegang Brewery

Craft beers are so popular these days; it was a thrill to tour the Ommegang Brewery in upstate New York. Here, our team enjoyed a lunch of perfectly paired beers and hearty foods. It made me eager to show just how much a great beer can bring to the dinner table!

Harpoon Brewery

Wegmans loves to support local producers, like Harpoon Brewery that’s practically right around the corner. We’ve worked with them for 2 years now, and attended the first Harpoon University, where owners Rich Doyle and Dan Kenary told us about the history of the brewery, their brewing process and their beers. Now that was a fun lunch!

I could go on with more stories, but why don’t you stop in soon and we’ll have a great talk about pairing foods with wines and beer. I think you’ll find our friendly team and unique food market connection will make us your favorite wine shop!

Incredible Selection at Great Prices

As if having super-knowledgeable employees wasn’t enough to entice you to visit us, there’s a great selection of wine, liquor, and beer for every budget—from hand-selected $6 wines, to craft beers, to local spirits, and fine wines.

In fact, if you’re interested in starting that wine cellar I talked about earlier—or maybe you just want a very special wine to celebrate a very special occasion—our Fine Wine Room is the place to start and we’re thrilled at the offerings we have to share. Some of my favorites are:

  • First Growth Bordeaux including Chateau Mouton Rothschild, Château Margaux, Château Latour and Château Haut Brion
  • The finest Tete de Cuvee champagne including Dom Perignon, Roederer Cristal, Veuve Clicquot La Grand Dame, and Krug Grand Cuvee.
  • Great vintage ports including a selection from the fabulous 2011 vintage.
  • Over 40 selections of the greatest from California, including Caymus, Dalla Valle, Fisher, Silver Oak, Phelps and Dominus.

I’m so excited to see you all on opening day on March 29th at 8am. Cheers!
